Hanger Orthopedic Group, Bethesda, Md., entered the managed-care market with a new nationwide network of orthotic- and prosthetic-care providers. The subsidiary, Linkia, will contract with health insurers to provide access to providers as well as simplified billing and eligibility verification. The network consists of Hanger's patient-care centers as well as specially selected independent providers. Linkia will be led by Michael Murphy, Hanger's vice president of marketing and business development and a former senior manager at Cigna Corp. Hanger manufactures artificial limbs and operates 600 orthotic- and prosthetic-care centers in 44 states and the District of Columbia. -- by Laura B. Benko
