* Richard Pettingill, 55, president and CEO of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Minneapolis, has been named to the board of directors of Tenet Healthcare Corp., Santa Barbara, Calif. Pettingill took the helm at Allina in October 2002. He also has experience in California, Tenet's largest market, having worked as a high-level executive for Kaiser Permanente's California division from 1996 to 2002. Previously he was president and CEO of Camino Healthcare, Mountain View, Calif. The system, which integrated a hospital and physician group, lost $17.6 million on operations on $180.7 million in revenue in its fiscal year ended June 1995, according to state records. Camino Healthcare subsequently was taken over by the hospital's original owner, El Camino Hospital District.
* Community Memorial Hospital of San Buenaventura, Ventura, Calif., has named Gary Wilde as its new president and CEO, effective April 5. He replaces Michael Bakst, who was ousted last October after an 18-month power struggle with about 100 staff physicians. Wilde, 48, is currently COO of three-hospital Cottage Health System, Santa Barbara, Calif., where he has worked for more than two decades. An early task for Wilde will be to settle a lawsuit filed last year by staff physicians who allege that their authority was undermined when administrators at the 240-bed, not-for-profit hospital seized their bank accounts and unilaterally imposed new staff bylaws and hospital policies.
