Baptist Health System, Birmingham, Ala., which recently announced plans to shed three of its 10 hospitals, has experienced another big adjustment -- the resignation of its board chairman of eight months. Michael Drummond, a vascular surgeon installed as chairman in July 2003 after Baptist abandoned plans to sell to Triad Hospitals, stepped down Sunday during a meeting of the board's seven-member executive committee. Baptist said Drummond was not asked to resign. Vice Chairman Aubrey Miller, director of tourism and travel for Southern Living magazine, was installed as interim board chairman. -- by Michael Romano
