A former chief financial officer for North Baldwin Infirmary, Bay Minette, Ala., will plead guilty to Medicare fraud charges, the Mobile (Ala.) Register reports. Robert Ben O'Daniel admitted to transferring about $1.9 million in funds from hospital and nursing home bank accounts to his own, the newspaper reported. O'Daniel, 59, agreed last week to combine the Alabama case with a separate case in South Carolina, where federal authorities allege he defrauded Medicare of millions of dollars. O'Daniel pleaded guilty in September 2003 to fraud conspiracy charges in South Carolina. No sentencing date has been set. -- by Michael Romano
