Three physician executives who are national leaders in medical informatics will be guest speakers at the meeting of the Northern California chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society meeting Jan. 22 in Palo Alto.
Paul Tang, M.D., clinical medical information officer, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, will discuss bringing patient information to the point of care and demonstrate the electronic health record used by PAMF.
David Brailer, M.D., former chairman and CEO of IT vendor and consultant CareScience of Philadelphia and currently a senior fellow at the Health Technology Center in San Francisco, will discuss the policy environment for clinical healthcare IT, including Institute of Medicine recommendations and financial incentives for electronic health records.
Kevin Fickenscher, M.D., partner and national director for clinical transformation at Computer Sciences, a healthcare IT consulting and outsourcing firm in El Segundo, Calif., will give his vision on the direction of IT and advise leaders on approaches to IT product selection.
