"The debate over adequate funding for community colleges may have seemed like an abstract numbers game to many Florida residents. Not anymore. Ten percent of Florida's nursing jobs are unfilled, and Florida will need 34,000 new nurses over the next couple of years to meet healthcare needs and replace those who retire. (Gov. Jeb) Bush and legislators give lip service to the problem but are short on action. ... If Florida residents find themselves in a hospital bed pushing the emergency call button and waiting endlessly for a response, at least now they know where some of the blame belongs."
