Quorum Health Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of Triad Hospitals, Plano, Texas, has announced plans to sell its hospital turnaround business, Cambio Health Solutions, to the unit's employees. QHR, the hospital management subsidiary that Triad received in its 2001 acquisition of Quorum Health Group, said Cambio founder and CEO Thomas Singleton will continue to lead the company as a private firm. Terms were not disclosed. "As an independent company, Cambio will be a more attractive option to hospitals seeking an outside resource which is unaffiliated with a hospital operator or management company," Singleton said in a news release. Triad officials have talked of selling Cambio because the turnaround unit was being passed over by hospitals located near hospitals owned by Triad or managed by QHR. Triad owns or operates 53 hospitals. A special report in this week's Modern Healthcare discusses the potential of management firms, such as QHR, becoming hospital owners.
