Advocate Health Care, Oak Brook, Ill, has asked state permission to build a new 144-bed hospital in Tinley Park, Ill. An Advocate spokesman said that with state permission the eight-hospital system could open the new facility by late 2007 or early 2008. The system declined to disclose the cost of the project, but experts said a hospital of that size would cost $75 million to $100 million. Advocate said the new hospital is designed to meet the needs of a growing population in the south suburbs of Chicago. It would compete with 360-bed Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Ill., and Advocate's own hospital, 240-bed Advocate South Suburban Hospital, in Hazel Crest, Ill. -- by Crain's Chicago Business
