Kindred Healthcare, Louisville, Ky., has opened two new long-term, acute-care hospitals -- a 60-bed facility in Nashville and a 30-bed hospital in Dallas -- and said it plans to open two additional new hospitals in early 2004. The Nashville hospital is freestanding and operated in association with the Hospital Authority of the Metro Government of Nashville and Davidson County. The new Dallas hospital is located within 866-bed Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. In the second quarter of 2004, Kindred said it will open a 45-bed long-term, acute-care hospital in Dover, N.J., located within St. Clare's Hospital/Dover, and a 68-bed freestanding facility in Dayton, Ohio. -- by Julie Piotrowski
