The overwhelming majority of Modern Healthcare readers responding to an online poll believe the indictment of Richard Scrushy last week on 85 counts of conspiracy, fraud and money laundering will have a negative effect on the healthcare industry. Some 88.1% of 362 respondents said the indictment of the former HealthSouth Corp. CEO and founder will increase antifraud enforcement efforts, and 69.1% said it will negatively affect the industry's reputation. Preliminary results were published in this week's Modern Healthcare.
