HHS will extend its home health quality initiative nationwide on Monday, posting information about agencies in all 50 states on a Web site. Information about agencies in eight states was made public in May as part of a pilot project. The initiative is part of a broad effort by HHS to make more healthcare quality data publicly available. The home health data consist of 11 measures of quality, including rate of hospitalization and improvements in daily living activities. About 2.4 million Americans used a Medicare-certified home health agency in 2002. -- by Tony Fong
