Five physicians, including James Rohack, M.D., chairman-elect of the American Medical Association, were named today to the National Advisory Council for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
The 21-member council provides advice to HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson and to the director of the agency, the AHRQ says in a release. AHRQ provides evidence-based information on health care outcomes, quality, cost, use and access.
In addition to Rohack, other newly appointed physicians are:
- Andrew Balas, M.D., dean of the School of Public Health at St. Louis University in St. Louis.
- Andrew Fishman, M.D., an executive at Cogent Healthcare, a hospitalist company based in Irvine, Calif.
- Arthur Garson, M.D., dean of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, Va.
- Terry Jacobson, M.D., director of the Office of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Grady Health Systems in Atlanta.
