Almost two-thirds of physicians say the physician-patient encounter has improved since the advent of healthcare information on the Internet, according to a new survey by Accel Healthcare Communications, a medical information consultancy based in New York City.
The survey also finds that 59% of physicians indicated an interest in receiving Web resource guides to assist them in making quality recommendations to patients, and 51% showed a willingness to offer patient promotional materials that would direct them to certain Web sites.
"Our research highlights physicians' receptivity to incorporating the Internet into their practices and the tremendous related opportunities," says Risa Bernstein, author of the study and chairman of Accel, in a release. "Physicians welcome industry-sponsored tools and are willing to receive those tools through sales representatives."
