The Medical Group Management Association has received a $300,000 grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to help conduct research into emerging issues in healthcare delivery, the Englewood, Colo-based association announced.
The MGMA Center for Research will team with the University of Minnesota and Georgetown University for a 20-month collaboration to develop the new Group Practice Research Network, which will include leading medical group practices that will help launch research into healthcare initiatives. The network is expected to include abut 1,000 group practices, according to the MGMA, a 19,000-member organization that is holding its annual five-day conference this week in Philadelphia.
The MGMA, which has attracted about 5,100 members and exhibitors to the conference, also announced the creation of a partnership with the American College of Cardiology to provide education and practice-management tools for cardiovascular specialists. -- by Michael Romano
