Select Medical Corp., Mechanicsburg, Pa., plans to open a 34-bed long-term acute-care facility in Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. In September, Select Medical completed the acquisition of Kessler Rehabilitation Corp., West Orange, N.J., for approximately $230 million minus the company's debt. Select Medical operates 77 specialty hospitals and 829 rehabilitation clinics in the U.S. and Canada. Meanwhile, Acuity Healthcare Management Corp., Austin, Texas, announced it will open a 30-bed long-term acute-care hospital in Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, Willingboro, N.J.
