The National Institutes of Health has announced $65.1 million in grants for the research and elimination of health disparities among minorities and medically underserved communities. The awards by the NIH's National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities include $20 million in new endowment program funds for four schools in the South, $32 million to 33 new biomedical and behavioral research institutions and $8.3 million to 148 health professionals under loan repayment programs. -- by Susanna Moon
