The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), based in Chicago since its 1997 inception, will move to Washington effective Nov. 1. Founded by the American Medical Association, 3M Co. and CNA HealthPro, the not-for-profit organization works to identify proven strategies for improving the safety of patient care. "We believe the move to Washington will put us in closer proximity to other groups that share our patient-safety agenda," said Carol Ley, who chairs the NPSF board. She said the relocation also would enhance the group's public exposure and improve fundraising. The group had been headquartered in the AMA building in downtown Chicago. -- by John Morrissey
