The Ohio Heart Health Center and Deaconess Associations, which owns 187-bed Deaconess Hospital, plan to build a $50 million heart hospital in suburban Cincinnati. The hospital would employ about 250 people and include 24-hour emergency services. It's scheduled to open in early 2005. Critics of the proposal say there are already too many heart hospitals in the Cincinnati area. In addition, state legislators are considering a bill that would prohibit doctors from making referrals to hospitals in which they have an ownership stake. The bill is scheduled for a committee vote in the state Legislature Sept. 3. -- by Patrick Reilly
