HealthSouth Corp., Birmingham, Ala., said it has agreed to sell its acute-care hospital in Coral Gables, Fla., to four-hospital Baptist Health South Florida, Coral Gables, for undisclosed terms. HealthSouth said the sale of 157-bed HealthSouth Doctors' Hospital is subject to federal antitrust and state regulatory reviews. The sale is expected to close within 60 days. Reports of HealthSouth's interest in selling the Coral Gables hospital date back at least two years. Interim Chairman Joel Gordon said in a written statement that the sale will strengthen the company's financial position while it recovers from the effects of accounting fraud allegations. -- by Vince Galloro
