"The House acted quickly this month to ensure that when members of Congress retire the federal government will provide them with far better prescription drug coverage than other Americans. It was a breathtaking act of hypocrisy. The bill provides prescription drug benefits for all federal retirees far more generous than those included in separate House and Senate Medicare bills. It ensures those benefits remain even if new Medicare legislation is approved. ... A companion bill was introduced in the Senate. According to our lawmakers, what's good for the public is not necessarily good for congressional retirees."
