Tenet Healthcare Corp., Santa Barbara, Calif., has named a replacement for half of former Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Barbakow's job. Tenet's directors have elected Edward Kangas, who joined Tenet's board of directors in April, to be nonexecutive chairman of the company, Tenet said. Kangas, 59, is former chairman and CEO of the accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. A successor to Barbakow as CEO hasn't been named. Barbakow announced his resignation in May. Kangas will chair Tenet's annual shareholder meeting today in Los Angeles. Tenet also said that its board is expected to elect new chairpersons for the board's compensation, audit and nominating committees at a board meeting today. Tenet owns and operates 114 hospitals. -- by Vince Galloro
