The former CEO of 347-bed Riverside County Regional Medical Center, Moreno Valley, Calif., and the public hospital's former director of pediatrics have been charged with allegedly embezzling more than $306,000 and falsifying time cards between 2000 and 2002. Former CEO Donna Matney and former pediatrics director Daniel Aldana each face two counts of criminal theft and three counts of misappropriation of funds. If convicted on all counts, each could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison. At deadline, attorneys for the Matney and Aldana could not be reached for comment. -- by Mark Taylor
