Universal Health Services, King of Prussia, Pa., said it has promoted Steve Filton to CFO. Filton, 46, has been interim CFO since Kirk Gorman gave up the position in February. Gorman agreed to step down as CFO after he and the company's auditor, KPMG, had what UHS described as a philosophical disagreement. Filton joined UHS in 1985. Before being appointed interim CFO, he was vice president and controller. Filton's new appointment was effective July 1 but not announced until today. UHS owns 25 acute-care and 39 behavioral-health hospitals in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. -- by Vince Galloro
