Hospital industry inflation was nearly three times greater than general inflation in June, as wholesale prices for general medical and surgical hospitals rose 1.4%, according to the U.S. Labor Department's Producer Price Index. That's equal to the highest-ever monthly increase in hospital PPI, which occurred in April. Prices for all finished goods increased 0.5% last month and rose 2.9% from the 12 months earlier. Hospital prices were 6.7% higher than 12 months earlier. Physician prices declined 0.1% in June and were 0.8% higher than 12 months earlier. -- by Mary Chris Jaklevic
