Members of Shriners International are expected to vote today on whether to close the 80-year-old Twin Cities Shriners Hospital, Minneapolis, a hospital spokesman said. As many as eight Shriners childrens hospitals, including the 40-bed Minneapolis facility, may close or take major cost-cutting steps this year, the Associated Press reported. Shriners officials declined to disclose to the AP the identities of other hospitals. At deadline, officials at Shriners International could not be reached for comment. -- by Patrick Reilly
