HealthSmart Preferred Care, a not-for-profit PPO based in Lubbock, Texas, has acquired North Texas Healthcare Network, a Dallas-based third-party administrator with 100,000 enrollees in 37 Texas counties, from North Texas Alliance, Irving, Texas.
Terms of the deal, announced late Monday, were not disclosed.
North Texas Healthcare Network is jointly sponsored by Baylor Health Care System, Methodist Health System and Texas Health Resources, three large not-for-profit delivery systems in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It has 7,800 affiliated physicians and a 70-hospital network. North Texas Alliance is a holding company for the network.
"This acquisition solidifies HealthSmart's presence in Dallas-Fort Worth and provides an opportunity to work closely with Baylor Health Care System, Methodist Health System, Texas Health Resources and other high-quality medical services providers of the North Texas Region," HealthSmart CEO David Adams says in a written statement.
Adams and other HealthSmart officials were not immediately available for comment.
