"Who says dialysis has to be boring?"
That's a question posed in The Kidney Show, an online game "designed to entertain and inspire renal health patients, their friends and families," according to a press release from Miami-based game creator Makinita and iKidney.com, a kidney disease information site sponsored by Watson Pharma.
The answer? Certainly not Jimmy Nephro.
Ah, Jimmy Nephro, the intrepid hero of The Kidney Show, who moves through The Diet and the Dialysis Room and into the Red Blood Cell Chamber, teaching players the importance of balanced nutrition and patient comfort.
In the Dialysis Room, Jimmy Nephro dons his best deejay gear, mixing tunes at a turntable in between visits to patients to drop off blankets, televisions, CD players and other comfort items. The idea is to "promote a positive environment" for renal care.
Next thing you know, hospitals will be installing dance floors and martini bars. Too bad Medicare doesn't reimburse for cover charges.
