Former HealthSouth Corp. CEO Richard Scrushy has filed a lawsuit against the HealthSouth board of directors, charging the board with excluding him from meetings and not updating him on the company's performance, his attorneys say.
"As a HealthSouth director, Mr. Scrushy is legally entitled to such information and meeting notices," says Scrushy attorney Gary Baise of Washington, D.C., in a release from late Tuesday afternoon.
Scrushy remains on the board of directors of HealthSouth, a physical therapy and outpatient surgery business based in Birmingham, Ala.
But he was removed as the company's chairman and chief executive after the Securities and Exchange Commission accused him and the company of accounting fraud.
Scrushy also faces insider-trading charges by the SEC.
