Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Providence, announced it will turn over its business office and customer service operations to Perot Systems Corp., Plano, Texas, under a 10-year, $570 million outsourcing agreement. The contract includes cash disbursements, claims, information technology and membership administration services. Some 600 Blues employees will become Perot employees. The Blues plan announced its selection of Perot in February. Since then, the companies have been awaiting regulatory approvals and negotiating a final contract. -- by John Morrissey
