Eight-hospital Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers, New York, signed a 20-year lease for 104,500 square feet of corporate space in midtown Manhattan, marking a milestone in the success of the 2000 merger, officials said. The new space will house many of the business operations taking place at more than a dozen sites throughout the metropolitan area. Officials said approximately 500 employees will be relocated, and the system will save $500,000 annually on real estate costs. Since the merger, Saint Vincent has centralized business reporting relationships, unified information systems platforms and standardized financial reporting, budgeting, billing and purchasing, officials said. -- by Cinda Becker
