Legislation introduced in the House today would make the cost of long-term-care insurance tax-deductible, create incentives for employers to offer such insurance and allow a tax credit of up to $3,000 for those who are already ill and require long-term care. Nursing home care costs on average $50,000 per individual per year, and the cost of home care exceeds $12,000 annually, according to the Health Insurance Association of America.
