Dialysis center operator Renal Care Group last week announced acquisitions of facilities in four states and also said it purchased unspecified interests in joint ventures that operate outpatient and home dialysis programs in Elyria, Ohio.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed, and company officials in Nashville, Tenn., did not respond to a request for comment.
Renal Care Group says it purchased the assets of four centers that are in Cleveland; Laurens County, S.C., Lexington, Ky., and Harlingen, Texas, giving the company about 200 new dialysis patients and "additional capacity in important markets," according to a written statement. The company did not specify how many physicians practice at the facilities.
Renal Care Group will operate the Ohio programs as part of a joint venture that includes the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. The Nashville dialysis company already has a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic and with Elyria-based EMH Regional Healthcare System.
"Affiliating with Renal Care Group will provide a platform for expanding the programs and enhancing the quality of nephrology services available to patients," Romeo Miclat, M.D., medical director for the new Elyria programs, says in the Renal Care Group statement.
Renal Care Group has a roster of nearly 21,000 patients at its 270 outpatient facilities in 27 states. It also provides acute care services at 120 hospitals.
