* The National Business Coalition on Health named Andrew Webber the new president and CEO of the Vienna, Va.-based association of business health purchasing coalitions. Webber, 48, has been vice president of public policy for the National Committee for Quality Assurance and is a former senior associate for the Consumer Coalition for Quality Health Care.
Webber's 25 years of healthcare experience also include stints as executive vice president of the American Medical Peer Review Association and vice president of public policy for the Washington Business Group on Health. The Harvard University graduate will lead an organization made up of 90 business coalitions representing 7,000 employers and 34 million people.
Webber replaces Greg Lehman, who resigned in January to become CEO of Gordian Health Solutions, a Nashville-based disease-management firm.
"Andy brings to this position an understanding of consumer issues, a broad knowledge and appreciation for the importance of quality measurement, experience with the employer community and a clear understanding of public policy," said Becky Cherney, coalition board chairwoman.
In a tongue-in-cheek publicity announcement released to insiders, the coalition denied that Webber was actually Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer and theatrical impresario.
