Massachusetts' largest medical malpractice carrier, ProMutual Group -- covering some 10,000 physicians -- plans to raise premiums 20% in July, the Boston Globe reported. A company spokesman declined to comment on the company's plans or the accuracy of the report, saying ProMutual needed to file certain documents with the state. ProMutual covers more than half of Massachusetts physicians, and many expressed concerns about the higher rates. However, the president of the Massachusetts Medical Society told the Globe that physicians in the state do not plan a strike similar to ones carried out by their colleagues in West Virginia and elsewhere in recent months. -- by Jeff Tieman
