John Henry Sr., 65, will retire this summer after nearly eight years as CEO of three-hospital Emory Hospitals in Atlanta and four decades with hospitals in various positions. In his last year on the job, he helped shepherd the completion of a $270 million renovation of Emory Crawford Long Hospital. His position will be phased out, and leaders of the individual hospitals will report directly to John Fox, president and CEO of Emory Healthcare, which includes the hospitals and clinics. ... F. Scott Kellman has been hired as Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.'s treasurer and senior vice president of corporate finance and real estate. Kellman, 46, had been COO of Omega Healthcare Investors, Ann Arbor, Mich. ... Barbara Balik will fill a new role at Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Minneapolis, overseeing patient safety at the 14-hospital system. Mark Mishek, 52, who had been Allina's executive vice president of law and public affairs, has replaced Balik as president of United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn. ... James Decker, 51, executive vice president of care operations and administrator at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, has been promoted to senior vice president of system services at parent Baptist Health System of East Tennessee. He'll be replaced at Baptist Hospital by his former deputy, Richard Hammett, 33. ... Brian Ivie, 42, is the new chief administrative officer at Washoe Medical Center, Reno, Nev., replacing Rod Callahan, who has moved over to vice president of fund development for Washoe Medical Foundation. ... Rex Riley, president and CEO of Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, N.J., since 2000, died suddenly at his home in Westfield, N.J., last week. He was 57. "Rex Riley was a very special man," said Harvey Holzberg, president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J. "He had a wonderful affinity for children and their families."
