CHICAGO-The new owners of Grant Hospital renamed the facility Lincoln Park Hospital and announced plans to spend $12 million to $15 million in the next five years on capital improvements. Merit Health Systems, Denver, bought the former Grant Hospital at an auction in August 2002 for $25.2 million from Vital Community Health Services. Merit is the hospital's fourth owner in five years. Merit President and Chief Executive Officer Tyree Wilburn said the company is backed by a $100 million line of credit and seeks to buy other area hospitals. Lincoln Park will focus on providing community health services, outpatient surgery and women's healthcare.
