Tenet Healthcare Corp.'s South Florida subsidiary announced a $6 million renovation to consolidate children's services at St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Fla., into a single wing. The wing will become an 81-bed children's hospital within St. Mary's. It will be called the Nicklaus Children's Hospital after the family of pro golfer Jack Nicklaus. The family has resided in the Palm Beach area since the mid-1960s and now includes three generations living there. It is establishing the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation to support the hospital, Tenet said. Construction crews are scheduled to start work in May with completion expected in late 2004. -- by Vince Galloro
