Mercy Health Plan, owned by six-hospital Mercy Health System of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Conshohocken, has sold it 50% interest in Horizon/Mercy, New Jersey's largest Medicaid HMO with 285,000 enrollees, to its joint venture partner, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey. Terms were not disclosed. Horizon/Mercy, based in Trenton, N.J., was created in 1994 by Horizon and Mercy Health Plan at a time when the Mercy plan was considering expanding into New Jersey. -- by Laura B. Benko
