Consorta Catholic Resource Partners, Rolling Meadows, Ill., has approved a code of conduct governing its group purchasing practices that has the blessing of the Senate Judiciary Committee's antitrust subcommittee, officials said last week. First drafted in early 2002, the code's completion accelerated in October after the subcommittee sent a letter to Consorta and other GPOs asking them to adopt policies similar to those put in place by Premier and Novation last summer. "In many ways our code is an articulation of the policies that have always guided our actions here at Consorta," Chief Executive Officer John Strong said in a written statement. "We're very serious about following it and about reporting our progress to the Senate staff." The code will be posted on Consorta's Web site, consorta.com. Chief Operating Officer Darrel Weatherford will serve as the GPO's compliance officer.
