Sunrise Assisted Living, McLean, Va., has sold 11 senior-living facilities for $170 million to an investor group advised by Macquarie Capital Partners, a global real-estate investment company headquartered in Chicago. The investor group acquired an 80% interest in the venture, and Sunrise will hold a 20% interest while continuing to operate the properties under long-term management agreements. The 11 properties, located in seven states, have a resident capacity of 1,180 and a combined book value of $124 million, officials said. Sunrise, one of the nation's largest and oldest providers of senior-living services, has about 220 senior-living communities either open or under construction in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, with a total capacity of more than 17,000 residents. -- by Michael Romano
