Texas Health Resources, Arlington, said it would invest more than $1.5 billion in facilities during the next 10 years, including construction of a 100-bed cardiac care tower at 556-bed Harris Methodist Forth Worth Hospital. In addition, the system intends to build a six-floor patient tower at 665-bed Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and also plans expansions at 179-bed Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Texas, and 29-bed Presbyterian Hospital of Allen, Texas. "This has been a long-term effort," system President and CEO Douglas Hawthorne said. "It is a reflection of demand, service-line expansion and changes in diversity." THR expects to raise the $1.5 billion from operations, bonds and philanthropy, Hawthorne said. THR is among several health systems to announce ambitious capital plans in recent months. -- Patrick Reilly
