Community Health Systems, Brentwood, Tenn., signed a letter of intent to acquire its sixth Pennsylvania hospital, 216-bed Pottstown (Pa.) Memorial Medical Center, as well as an associated scanning and treatment center and three family care sites. The sale will convert Pottstown to a for-profit hospital. Terms were not disclosed. Pottstown has been on the hunt for a partner for six months to bring in needed capital. The deal is subject to state regulatory approval and is expected to close in the spring, officials said. -- by Cinda Becker
