The National Quality Forum, Washington, will accept comments through Nov. 26 on 17 proposed measures to assess the quality of hospital care nationwide. A draft report by the forum recommends that the measures be adopted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as part of its effort to hold hospitals accountable for quality, including public disclosure of results. Eight of the proposed measures cover patient safety, four deal with treatment of heart attacks and five measures cover pediatric surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm and cerebrovascular disease.
