Indiana's largest healthcare system, Clarian Health Partners, Indianapolis, named Daniel Evans Jr., 53, its new president and CEO. Evans has been interim CEO since William Loveday, 58, retired in July. Evans has been Clarian's board chairman since 2000 and has been a board member since Clarian was created by the 1997 merger of Indiana University Medical Center, Methodist Hospital and Riley Children's Hospital. Evans is the fourth generation of his family to serve on the Methodist board. His father, Daniel Evans Sr., was the hospital's president from 1965 to 1968. Meanwhile, Baylor Medical Center at Irving (Texas) named Jim Thaxton, its interim president since June, to the permanent position. Thaxton previously was senior vice president for managed-care contracting at the 235-bed hospital's parent, Baylor Health Care System. He succeeds Michael O'Keefe, who resigned earlier this year. -- by Mark Taylor and Patrick Reilly
