Matthew Fink, M.D., president of 992-bed Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, is stepping down after five years to return to clinical practice in neurology. Fink, 51, will serve as director of the neuroscience service line for four-hospital Continuum Health Partners, which includes Beth Israel. Thomas Killip, M.D., clinical director of the Continuum Heart Institute, will step in as acting president of Beth Israel. ... Alan Goldbloom, M.D., 54, will be the next CEO of Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, effective next January. Goldbloom has been the COO of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He succeeds Brock Nelson, who announced his retirement earlier this year. ... Richard Sabo, a private-practice general surgeon at 70-bed Bozeman (Mont.) Deaconess Hospital, has become the 83rd president of the American College of Surgeons, Chicago. Sabo, 62, is one of the first practicing surgeons from a rural area to lead the 65,000-member organization. ... SurgiCare, an operator of freestanding ambulatory surgery centers based in Houston, has hired two new top executives to lead its expansion. Keith LeBlanc, 44, will become the company's new CEO, and Phillip Scott, 40, has been appointed to the newly created position of chief development officer. In May, SurgiCare said it would buy Aspen Healthcare, Boulder, Colo., which manages 10 ambulatory surgery centers. ... Harry Moon, 52, who worked his way up from plastic surgeon to chairman and president of the Cleveland Clinic Florida Foundation, is resigning at year-end. Melinda Estes, Cleveland Clinic Florida's CEO, will add the president and chairman titles when Moon retires. Moon oversaw the clinic's mission to extend healthcare services to South Florida, including building a $90 million hospital in Naples. ... Deborah Watson has been named vice president of the southern region for two-hospital Bayhealth, Milford, Del. The position puts her in charge of day-to-day operations at Bayhealth's Milford Memorial Hospital; systemwide cardiology, oncology and rehabilitative programs; and licensure and accreditation.
