A Los Angeles Times story picked up for yesterday's Nationwide News Capsule reported that the Service Employees International Union had won the right to represent nurses at 423-bed Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Burbank, Calif. According to a hospital spokesman, nurses voted 270-223 for unionization, but hospital management has challenged five ballots and the union has challenged 51. The ultimate outcome of the vote won't be known until the National Labor Relations Board rules on the challenges, the spokesman said.
