Sens. William Frist (R-Tenn.), Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) introduced a bill to continue federal funding aimed at shoring up the nation's trauma centers. In addition, the bill would make it easier for states to obtain federal matching funds to support trauma centers and would fund research to assess the quality of trauma care nationwide. "The bill would ensure that the program receives the support it needs to continue strengthening programs governing trauma center systems," the senators said in a written statement. -- by Jeff Tieman
