Washington County (Md.) Hospital reopened its trauma center, which had been shuttered since June because of a dispute with doctors over compensation for on-call duty. The 309-bed hospital closed its Level II trauma center when it could not get enough surgeons to fill round-the-clock on-call shifts. It reopened as a Level III center, which has lower staffing requirements. A hospital spokeswoman declined to comment on how the dispute over compensation was settled. -- Patrick Reilly
