Wholesale prices for acute-care hospital services rose 0.8% in August and were 4% higher than in August 2001, according to the U.S. Department of Labor's Producer Price Index. Prices for physician services rose 0.1%, up 0.2% from the year before. Prices for all finished goods were unchanged.
