Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, Allentown, Pa., has modified an expansion project at its Muhlenberg campus in Bethlehem, adding $21 million to the original $39 million project cost. Officials said the upgraded project would increase the number of beds by 80 for a total of 188 and attributed the added cost to the additional beds and the decision to construct all private rooms. The seven-story, 205,000-square-foot project also includes expansion of a regional heart center, which opened in June; a new intensive-care unit; and retail space. -- by Cinda Becker
